about
"Anamnesis" is a song from Denver, Colorado heavy metal group, Immortal Sÿnn's upcoming sophomore album, Force of Habit (album release date pending). It is the first single to be released from that album. Recording took place at Rusty Sun Audio in Parker, CO with engineer Nick Nodurft, and the song is set for digital release on June 12, 2020.
While the aforementioned album, as a whole, will see the group continue into the realm of thrash metal, as seen on the previous Capitol Punishment EP, "Anamnesis" shows the more melodic side of the band and is a polished track made for radio.
The song is the first to be composed entirely, both lyrically and musically, by the band's drummer, Axel Berrios. Lyrically, the song tells the story of a man experiencing nightmares after the death of his lover, and creating a fantasy world in order to cope with the loss. The music draws its influences from traditional metal artists such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, with hints of some power metal mixed in as well.
Due to line-up changes after the band's 2019 summer tour, the instrumentation on the track is done entirely by drummer Axel Berrios and guitarist/founder, Tony Z. Axel handled all drum and bass parts, while Tony Z played all guitar tracks. This single also marks the debut of new vocalist, Duel Shape, who has a style heavily-influenced by bands such as Cinderella, Dangerous Toys, and Mötley Crüe. Tony and Axel both contributed vocal harmonies to the track to coincide with Duel's ripping leads.
lyrics
Is this real?
This empty melody
Calls my name
With silent agony
I will create
This world of fantasy
With memories
Of a never ending scene
Why I can’t forget
The nightmares again?
This life is haunting me
Just set me free
In her eyes
I saw past her life
And at dawn
She came to say goodbye
Is this a dream
Or is it reality?
In my hands
Lies a tragedy
This melody
Will sing for me
The pain is staying here
And will never leave
Why I can’t forget
The night she left?
I fear that all these dreams
Will come to me.
